When the power goes out or a dangerous electrical fault occurs, you don’t have time to wait for a "business hours" technician or a contractor who has to rent outside equipment.

Bay Area Electrical Services provides 24/7 emergency response for residential and commercial clients. We don't just find the problem—we have the heavy machinery and the certifications to fix it immediately.

Why Choose Us When Seconds Count?

In an emergency, most electricians are limited by the tools in their van. If your problem is underground or requires structural access, they have to call a third party and rent equipment. That costs you time and thousands of dollars in markups.

Here is why we are different:

1. We Own the Equipment (and the  Excavation Company)

Most major electrical failures involve underground lines or site-work. Because we own and operate our own full-scale excavation company, we have backhoes, trenchers, and specialized diagnostic gear ready to roll 24/7.

  • Save Thousands: No rental fees passed on to you.
  • Save Days: No waiting for a rental yard to open or a subcontractor to show up.
  • One Point of Contact: We handle the dig, the repair, and the backfill.

2. MHIC Certified #165585: Beyond Just Wires

We hold a Maryland Home Improvement Commission (MHIC) certification. This is a game-changer for our customers. It means we have the licensed expertise to work on and around all areas of your home or office.

We understand the structural integrity of your building.

We ensure all emergency repairs meet strict safety and aesthetic standards.

Whether we are cutting into drywall or navigating complex foundations, your property is in the hands of a total-home professional.

⚡ What to Do While You Wait for Our Team

Your safety is our priority. Follow these steps immediately after calling our 24/7 emergency line:

1. Cut the Power at the Source

If it is safe to do so, go to your main electrical panel and turn off the main breaker. This stops the flow of electricity to the entire structure and is the single best way to prevent an electrical fire from spreading.

2. Never Use Water on an Electrical Fire

If you see flames or smoke coming from an outlet or appliance:

  • DO NOT use water; it conducts electricity and can cause a fatal shock.
  • DO use a Class C-rated fire extinguisher if you have one.
  • EVACUATE immediately if the fire is not contained and call 911.

3. Clear the Way for Heavy Equipment

Since Bay Area Electrical Services brings our own excavation and heavy equipment to handle underground faults:

  • Move any vehicles out of the driveway.
  • Ensure gates or fences are unlocked.
  • Keep children and pets in a safe, secure area away from the suspected electrical fault.

4. Unplug Sensitive Electronics

Power surges often precede or follow an electrical emergency. If you still have partial power, unplug computers, televisions, and high-end appliances to protect their internal circuitry from "dirty" electricity or sudden spikes when power is restored.

5. Identify the "Scent" of Trouble

Be ready to tell our technician what you experienced.

  • Fishy/Urine smell: Often indicates plastic components or wire insulation are overheating.
  • Sulfur/Rotten Eggs: Could indicate a battery backup failure or a related gas issue.
  • Metallic Burning: Typically indicates a direct short or arching.
PRO TIP: If your emergency involves a downed outdoor line or a flickering underground service, stay at least 30 feet away. Even if the ground looks dry, electricity can "pool" in the soil around a fault.
